Flash on iPhone

Now you can enable content to play on Apple’s iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad using SmokeScreen. According to the developers this is how it gets running on your iPhone

“It runs entirely in the browser, reads in SWF binaries, unzips them (in native JS), extracts images and embedded audio and turns them in to base64 encoded data:uris, then stitches the vector graphics back together as animated SVG.”

get it ? I didn’t .. but as long as works I am happy. But according to Engadget this works fine with Ads on websites but when they looked at playing a video it was laggy. So in short you are going to see ads on websites and no video .. duh !! This is still in its early stages so here is hoping that video will work properly in the final product.

Looks like Sam Mendes, director of American Beauty has been approached to create some new a.k.a commercials for Apple. There are also rumors that the device, known internally as the Mammoth N90, will have a mother and daughter highlighting its iChat video feature in at least one of the commercials, thanks to the new front-facing camera.

Chances are, the video chat feature is only going to work on wifi, and if it works on the mobile network it will probably come with some additional cost attached. I’ll be surprised if it works on 3G and if the mobile operators will give it out for Free on existing plans. What do you guys think ? via Engadget

Apple and Microsoft are discussing dropping Google as the default search engine on Apple’s somewhat popular handset — talks that have been underway for “weeks,” apparently. If this is true it reinforces the escalating rivalry between Apple and Google.

According to mobilecrunch.com

It’ll still be a while before we see any games powered by the engine. Epic currently has no plans to get into the iPhone space for themselves, though they plan to license the engine some time in the near future.
