Promini is the new iPhone puzzle game from the guys at Eltima Software. It looks quite simple and easy to pick up and play. The rules of the game is quite simple and you have quite a lot of upgrades ( powerups ) to help you along the way. Promini would most likely fall in to the bricks breaking puzzle genre and like all of them you have a falling brick that you have to arrange in a particular order so they will break and give you points. How good is this iPhone game ? Check out the full review
The blocks in the game are a 2×2 square block that can be made up of 2 possible colors and you have to build them into 2×2 or more block of the same color and the continuous laser that sweeps horizontally will burn these blocks awarding you points. If you can string together big complex figures of cubes this will bring you more points. For example if you break a 2×2 block you get 4 points and if you get a 3×2 block you get 12 points.
This iPhone game has a local leaderboard, its a shame that there is no online leaderboard to compare your performance with your friends. The in-game options allows you to control the volume of the background music, sound effects and the slider sensitivity. The background music goes nicely with the game and there is a help section that you get you up to speed with the various controls in the game. You move the block by sliding your finger across, rotate the blocks by sliding your finger up or down, tapping ( or clicking on the screen ) will send the block down faster. As you progress the gameplay speed increases. Powerups can be purchased with the credits you earn. Some of the has got some nice visual effects to it. The background keeps changing throughout the game which is a nice touch. Occasionally you get special blocks marked with a star, if you can burn those blocks with in a specific time you get bonus power-ups which can be quite handy to rack up points.
That is all there is to the game. Though its not a must have for all iPhone gamers. The game does ok and can be fun for casual gamers. The controls does take a while to get used to during the first few days I was having a hard time getting the blocks to move to where I wanted it to go but after playing around with the slider sensitivity a few times I kinda got the hang of it.
